Catching up - print

Jo Boddy

My big print is progressing (finally!) it's currently at this stage.

I put about 4 layers and an awful lot of effort into the sky... only to realised it looked like waves when turned upside down.

GUTTED!! (Although totally banking this as a method for when I come to do seas!) Anyway, now it's got some trees and a yellow glow it's looking much more sky like.

This one is going to be another experiment (of course!) I'm using two plates, one with the trees and the other with everything else. I'm planning on etching the second plate with caustic soda and cutting the trees traditionally. I want to see wheat the balance looks like on a bigger scale. I'm going to press fern leaves into caustic soda to get some natural shapes and I think I'm also going to print directly from ferns and grasses to sharpen up the foreground.

I'm rather excited about this one, it's got lots of potential and I feel like it's moving my work on and deepening what I'm exploring, both in technique but also in subject.
