Continuing what I started with Chris Orr

Jo Boddy

I've been working some more on the print that I started back in late November with Chris Orr at the Curwen. I love the lithographic layer I made there, I worked some more on the drypoint and made a new lithographic layer for the distant tree line. There is definitely potential with this one.

These were always going to be test prints so they have some issues. There are creases from the tissue paper on a couple of them but the main issue is that the very opaque distant layer is sitting on top of the tree trunks and other foreground layers as it was printed last. I needed to see the other layers to decide on the colour and registration.

Overall I'm really excited about this. I want to remake the drypoint layer as it's the one I did on the course with Chris so was never a well thought through plate. I have bought some thicker drypoint plastic (this one was very thin and Chris said he would usually use thicker stuff). It's more of an engraving than just a drypoint. I think that some of it is far too dark, and it's slightly unbalanced.

Overall the print I imagined is starting to emerge which feels very exciting - it's been a long time in the planning has this one!
