I've realised how useful my walking in the first is as a place to think. Yesterday morning I had a bit of an epiphany and think I might have a plan for wha I want to make for the exhibition. I've gone back to the hanging tree trunk idea but I was thinking about how the trees in the forest are arranged in rows but not grids, then I was thinking about the changing view as I walk through the forest and how the gaps between the trees appear and disappear and how the space in-between the tree trunks change. This made me think of images that you have to walk past to find the right spot to stand in to get the full picture. That led to thinking about the phrase 'can't see the wood for the trees'. I was also thinking about the rows of trees and the other saying (which I've mainly heard in medical settings) 'there are no straight lines in nature'.
That all got me to pondering over making something that looks like tree trunks at first but when you stand in the right place a view of the first is revealed. I don't know whether I'm capable of reproducing it but it can't be that hard. I think I shall have to practise before I commit to making anything.
