I'm so excited that the bluebells are out - I've started a new print already, I just couldn't wait to get some spring colours on the go. I want this one to feature the sun slanting through beech trees with bluebells carpeting the forest floor. I've been taking lots of pictures for inspiration.
Annoyingly I made a mistake with how high the rainbow roll was and then cut away the area that would have hidden the join. If I carry on with this block the sky will be purple!

I decided to start a new block and use the backgrounds from the old one and then create a second print from the old block. All very confusing! I also discovered that the registration pins had slipped ever so slightly so that the last few prints are completely wonky on the paper. The whole edition is going to have to be sold mounted to hide the edges! I'm not entirely sure what I do about the editioning as I don't want to write on the mount - that looks awful! Ho hum. I don't think this is going to be a print that I can enter for Woolwich this year, which is slightly panicking me as there's on a month left to apply and I don't feel I've got a star print to enter yet.
Anyway, ignoring the panic, I'm rather excited by the effect of the caustic soda to get a soft edge around the sun. Especially on the second block.

This one is going to take a while to cut - it's so intricate so I need to work on it. I can't concentrate on anything else while this is in my head. I need to get it onto paper. Although I am having thoughts about a lithograph in black and white depicting the devastation from all the harvesting.... an idea is brewing (which is not helping the fact I'm meant to be researching for the paper!).
